The Highland Year of Culture 2007 The Highland Year Of Culture started with a bang,
Our excellent choir sang and sang and sang,
Next was the Touchwood Festival where we saw our banner
Then Inverewe Gardens was next on our planner.
Next we were on our mountain bikes racing up the hill
- but it wasn’t like the nursery rhyme - poor Jack and Jill!
The pantomime of Robin Hood was very cheesy but good
- Olga Volt in her dress
- her house was a tent and a mess ,
Our Heritage topic was very much fun
and luckily we got it done.

At Inverewe Gardens
This year has been a good year
The highland year of culture
We had a trip to Inverewe
Where the beautiful flowers grew.
Ice-cream colours pink and white
Blossoming out even in night.
Lift up your head to the towering flowers -
Notice its immense powers .
You needn’t stray
See the flowers gay
In their floaty dresses
Leave all your stresses
For it is….. the Highland Year of Culture

HIGHLAND YEAR OF CULTURE!
Highland Year of Culture was good,
We went to Touchwood.
Touchwood was very funny,
And it was really sunny.
We went to Robin Hood,
Which was pretty good.
Olga Volt was really strange,
But it was a great change.
We made a heritage book,
Perhaps you’d like to take a look.
There’s many more things to write or say,
But that would take me all day!

There was a young boy from Inchbae,
Who made a house out of hay,
He bought a boat,
But it didn’t float,
So he never came back to Inchbae.

Highland Year of Culture 2007
When I think of this year past
I wish it could just last and last
In the Highlands it’s been like heaven
Celebrating Highland Culture 2007
Many trips and things to do
like mountain biking and Inverewe
Learning folklore of our own place
We interviewed people face to face
Ferintosh folk tales came to life
Ghosts and Gypsies were obviously rife!
Here whisky flowed like the Ferintosh burn
where Reverend Macdonald did a turn
In our school we do such a lot
Growing wild flowers but up grew a carrot
We also planted trees in the fieldy
And I hope to see them till I’m ninety
So that was the year that I most enjoyed
I wish it could happen again but it wont-
I’m annoyed!!

Highland Year of Culture
Oh my bonny lass, it’s Highland Year of Culture-
Together we have had our fun, from Touchwood to
some plays.
We mountain-biked on forest tracks and planted trees
and flowers,
We went back in time to Culloden and Fort George
and made our topic book and banners.
Now this year is ended and another is beginning -
Lets hope it will be just as good as 2007.

NAUGHTY 7
Oh, the clicking of gears as I jump into the air
With a ramp up ahead and the wind in my hair
As I ride ever closer, I wonder if I should stop
But I am to late for I’ve gone right over the top.
With a great raucous ‘BANG!’ rockets shoot into the sky
With all of the banners fluttering high
With the grind of the pedal, a log is slowly carved
And on the shaving horses those bits of wood are halved
Oh, the banging of hammers as they gnaw into the wood
Can we carry on? If only we could!
The crowd cries for more, like an ever hungry vulture
For this is the time of the highland year of culture

Our Special Year
For Highland Year of Culture,
It would have been great to look after a vulture.
Instead we did mountain biking,
And went up the Fyrish to do some hiking.
We had a visit to Culloden.
And Fort George was the opposite of modern.
Inverewe gardens was really great,
But the journey there I began to hate!
We won against Central in the choir,
Because our mark was so much higher.
At the touchwood Festival we had ice-cream,
But it was so horrible it could make you scream!
I’m afraid I have to come to an end,
If you didn’t enjoy it - you’re still my friend!

MY LITTLE POEM
We planted trees
Then came some honey bees
We made silk banners,
Using our great manners.
We went to the Touchwood Festival,
It was very enjoyable
We made a book
Buy one and take a look!
And all this happened in the…
Highland Year of Culture!

Highland Year of Culture
Highland Year of Culture was the best year ever
We’ll probably never get a year like it again.
We went to see ‘Robin Hood’,
And Eden Court was really good.
We had a Heritage Open day,
It was so great in many ways.
Olga Volt the electric fairy
was a teeny, weenie bit scary..!
I have to end this poem some way
I’ll tell you the rest some other day!
